Ratings Report:
- THE MASKED SINGER (FOX) had a very strong return last night with a 2.3 in the 18-49 demo and 7.06 million viewers. It was down (as expected) from its premiere last week at 3.0/12 and 9.36 million viewers (final ratings). It’s also worth noting that the L + 3 set a record for increase last week. The judges haven’t gotten any better at guessing and thought the raspy rendition of “I Will Survive” by the Pineapple must have been by Obama or Willie Nelson. It was (obviously-if you asked me) comedian and actor, Tommy John, in the pineapple costume that was sent home. GORDAN RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK fell just a tenth from 1.2 to 1.2 in the 18-49 demo.
- ABC also had a fairly good night with their return of THE GOLDBERGS (1.3) which is up two-tenths from their midseason finale in December. SCHOOLED, the ‘90s-set spinoff of the Goldbergs, premiered right after and held the same audience rating at 1.3. I’m not surprised that it did that well due to its spot on ABC’s lineup. MODERN FAMILY (1.3) was down a tenth and SINGLE PARENTS showed a low 0.8. MATCH GAME returned from its finale back in September (0.8, 5.99 million viewers) with a 0.6. and 2.56 million viewers.
- Both of NBC’s ONE CHICAGO and CHICAGO MED did well and rose one-tenth from their last season finales at 1.3 but CHICAGO PD was down from 1.1 to 1.0.
- SEAL TEAM on CBS stayed at a 0.8 and CRIMINAL MINDS rose from a 0.7 to a 0.8.

Of Note:
The news shows that followed Trump’s speech and the Democrat’s rebuttal on Tuesday night all benefited from it and had a strong night.
- FOX NEWS’ HANNITY (0.9) had a huge night thanks to the 7.1 million Trumpists that decided to tune in. The INGRAHAM ANGLE at 10 PM came in 7th at 0.5 and 3.6 million viewers.
- CUOMO PRIME TIME (CNN) came in close behind HANNITY at 0.8 but just grabbed a little more than 3.4 million viewers.
- THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND (HISTORY) rose 0.15 to 0.83 from last week.
- MSNBC’s The RACHEL MADDOW SHOW surprisingly came in 6th for the night but had a strong number of viewers at 4.3 million and saw a 0.52 rating in the adults 18-49 demo.
OTHER NEWS:
- BUSINESS BRIEFS:
- We’ve got ourselves a hostLESS OSCARS this year since the Academy can’t seem to find a single person in Hollywood to fill the spot. To remind you- Kevin Hart , the original host, dropped the gig just hours after receiving it since some of his homophobic tweets began to resurface and cause a controversy. In place of a single host, a group of A-listers will do skits and introduce various segments. Ideas of what else they can fill the time with are still being thrown around (might even cut the show shorter). The show is set to air live on February 24th.
- The LIFETIME doc series SURVIVING R KELLY continues to draw both interest AND controversy by viewers and celebrities. LADY GAGA said in a tweet last night that she is considering removing a collab she did with R Kelly in 2013, the song, “Do What U want” from iTunes. She said in the tweet “I stand behind these women 1000%, believe them, know they are suffering and in pain and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously.”
