RATINGS SUMMARY

  • AGT helped NBC to a solid win in both demo and total people last night
  • AGT had a repeat of Hollywood Game Night as a lead in which did it no favours whatsoever so no surprise it was down 4% even though it was the first live show of the season
  • So You Think You Can Dance was second for the night in demo although it was a large margin with SYTYCD 50% behind AGT. Actress Anna Kendrick was a guest judge for SYTYCD last night and it was on par with last week
  • CBS had a full night of repeats...
  • ABC cruised in with a lackluster fifth place in demo last night. Extreme Weight Loss was the only first run show for them but with a 1.1 in demo and 3.6 million viewers, their ratings drought continues.
  • The CW didn't have anything to brag about with two episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway? failing to deliver anything - it was 12% down on last week for the first ep and 18% for the second. They then launched into their new reality competition show "Capture" which bombed
OTHER NEWS
  • Celebrity Wife Swap has been renewed for a third season - based on its ratings, this is a surprising decision but then again, ABC don't exactly have a lot to choose from
  • Netflix and Hulu are continuing their aggressive push into original programming and Amazon are also playing in the space (they will be making big noises around September with new initiatives). Today they announced five pilots for kids programming aimed at the preschool audience. Rather than make the selections themselves, customers will watch and their feedback will help decide which shows will go to series. In April this year, Amazon greenlit six children's and eight comedy pilots and from that, three kids and two comedies went to series and will stream later this year and early 2014. Drama is next on their shopping list. I still think their business model is the best as a consumer with their Amazon Prime service which costs me $8 per year and for that, I get free shipping on a large amount of items you buy on Amazon PLUS you get all their content for free.
