RATINGS SUMMARY

  • The Olympics coverage on NBC continued to slip over the weekend, hitting a 4.2  on Saturday night - down significantly from both last Saturday’s 6.2 and the 6.8 the equivalent night earned in Vancouver in 2010. Sunday was a 4.8, down a massive 33% from last sunday’s 7.2, and also down from the equivalent night’ 5.7 in Vancouver.
  • The only other piece of original programming last night was 60 Minutes on CBS, which pulled a 1.0.

OTHER NEWS

  • House of Cards returned to Netflix for Season 2 last week, and the viewing numbers appear to be pretty massive - some projecting that 15% of Netflix subscribers watched the Season 2 Episode 1 in its first 24 hours online. See the article below for full details
  • From the “Never Coulda Seen That Coming” Department, a Pentacostal preacher from a snake-handling Kentucky church and who was featured on NatGeo’s Snake Salvation, has died after refusing treatment for a venomous snake bite.
  • Nigel Lythgoe will EP In the Spotlight for CBS, a performance show based on the Turkish format, Keep Your Light Shining. CBS is making some undisclosed changes to the original, which featured 12 singers on a dark stage with a moving spotlight. The spotlight shines on each of them for 15-20 seconds, and each round one contestant is eliminated by the audience. The show also features a panel of celebrity judges.
