OTHER NEWS

  • The FCC have announced new rules regarding net neutrality, causing quite a bit of uproar. While some claim that the new regulations effectively end the internet as we know it by allowing companies to pay service providers to speed up the delivery of their content, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler claims that the new rules will not allow “behavior harmful to consumers or competition by limiting the openness of the Internet.”
  • Seth Meyers has been announced as the host of the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, August 25. Yes - Monday.
  • Discovery will air its Everest Avalanche Documentary special on Sunday, May 4. Quite a fast turnaround. Appropriately, Discovery will be contributing to the American Himalayan Foundation Sherpa Family Fund.
  • Interesting article HERE (although you’ll have to subscribe to read the full piece) expanding on something we were pointing towards the other day - the divergent paths of Netflix and Amazon vis a vis online content streaming, as highlighted by their deals with Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) and HBO respectively.  Money quote: "Amazon may want to be more like Netflix, but Netflix wants to be more like HBO."
