Date Night | RELATIONHIP SHOW: this show will take couples that are married and have kids but in a relationship slump. Whether it be the spark has gone, don't care about their physical appearance, no sex life or just stuck in a rut, Date Night will put their relationship ion steroids for 48 hours. The kids will be looked after by family and they get to go on the ultimate Date Night but not a cheesy one, an exciting and invigorating one that aims to re-connect them and remind them why they fell in love in the first place. It challenges them emotionally but also has them doing exciting things that put some spark into things. | Fox TVS | Currently being pitched | Shine International | Jill is getting the sizzle reel for this uploaded. SH to send through this week once up. I actually quite liked this reel. It needs work and while I like it, it feels more cable than broadcast network. | Jill Schwartz |
Celebrity Reinvention | REALITY/COMPETITION: 14 celebrities that have faded profiles and want to reinvent themselves in another industry (business though - not entertainment). It is a cross between Shark Tank and The Apprentice. They are in talks with Piers Morgan to be the host. Being pitched as 8-10 x 1 hours | Fox TVS | Currently being pitched | All Fox TVS formats distributed by Shine International | Reel looks bad and just a poor mans version of Celebrity Apprentice | Jill Schwartz |
Title TBC | Met with a friend at Fox who works for Mike Darnell and all she would say is they have a dating show coming up with Eyeworks that Fox are extremely excited about. | Eyeworks - JD Roth | Fox | Eyeworks | Will get additional information as soon as possible | Amy Cohen - Fox (works for Mike Darnell in the Alternative department) |
Watch My Lips | COMPETITION: this show plays off the current trend of home made youtube clips where people lip sync and dance to popular songs (ie Call Me Maybe). Towns/schools/families would submit entries. | Nigel Lythgoe Productions | ABC passed. Being pitched to CBS. Pitching to ITV and BBC November | TBC | Sounds fun in theory but tough to see this as a series. It's great to watch online and I think that is where it should stay | Kary McHoul |
Comics On The Run | REALITY/COMPETITION: A competition show to find the next great comedian. It is very reliant on securing major talent as judges x 3 (ie Robin Williams, Chris Rock etc). Every episode is in a new city and the twist is that the audience will be tough with examples being (with no warning): all one race, they might all be polie officers, all the contestants that did not make it through. The audience votes for their favourite team and for the lowest ranked team, the coach has to drop one person | Magical Elves | Currently being pitched | TBC | I think this has no chance. NBC did something similar a few years ago and it just isn't broad enough in its appeal | Jo Sharon |
Cinderella | DATING SHOW: very few details from Stijn on this but Fox have acquired it for next fall. 6-8 eps (arc). Described as location style and heartwarming – similar to The Bachelor but with a lot more twists and it is about a single mother. About another 3 months of development required. | Talpa | Fox | Talpa | I am staying in touch with Talpa on this. This show was not mentioned at MIPCOM and they are keeping it fairly quiet while it is still being developed. | Stijn Bakkers – Talpa US |
Judged | REALITY/RELATIONSHIP SHOW: A couple having issues with their relationship discuss their problems with a male and female focus group watching the tape (separately). The couple then sit behind a mirrored wall and listen to the focus groups discuss them and their issues. The host is a therapist but some US networks have questioned this (I think it is required to have legitimacy and credibility) | Authentic Entertainment | TBC | TBC | Currently being shopped around in the US. | Lauren Lexton, Helga Eike |
Don’t Drop The Money | GAME SHOW: (studio based) a team of 4 players must try to get $200,000 in cash, through 8 rounds of physical challenges. Any money dropped en route will be lost. If they drop all the money before the final game, they leave with nothing. At the start of the game, the team is given 80 bundles of money totaling $200,000. For added tension and strategy, the bundles are worth varying amounts. From 30 bundles of $5 notes worth $500 each to the single super $100 bundle worth $50,000. | Shine America – original concept from Meter (a Shine company in Sweden) | RTL Germany and Fox (US) are shooting pilots in Germany in January | Shine International | TREATMENT AVAILABLE | Carl Fennessey |
The Score | REALITY: Everyone in America has a credit score and most know what it is. And most have some idea how it is calculated. But what if each person had a “score” based on components such as personality, years of child bearing left, sense of humor. The show works out what your score is and most will think they score higher than they really do. The show then helps them get their score up with self improvement | LMNO | On the market | Cineflix | Eric Schotz – President LMNO
18-Oct | ||||||
Zero to Chef | LMNO | On the market | Cineflix | Similar to the existing Food Network show “Worst Cook In America” | Eric Schotz – President LMNO
18-Oct | ||||||
Undateable | REALITY: no matter who it is, there is always someone that will date a person whether they are on death row, extremely obese, or Octomom. The show builds up why the person is “despicable” (harsh word) and then highlight why they are ok. There will be 10-12 people interested in dating the person but it is the Undateable person that will pick a prize, or a person. | LMNO | Likely network: Fox/ Spike/ Lifetime | Cineflix | Being pitched between mid October and end of the year. | Eric Schoyz – President LMNO |
18-Oct | ||||||
The Hero | REALITY: 8 x 1 hour to premiere in summer 2013 | Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia, Jimmy Fox (Electus) | TNT | Electus, 5x5 Media (Electus have international distribution) | Comments from TNT: location TBC but it will be exotic; it will be epic and cinematic; think more James Bond/Jason Bourne than beef cake; prize money TBC; viewers will be immersed in every part of the series influencing outcomes and decisions with heavy social media components; they are in pre production now and will commence shooting in approx 2 months; it is serialised with a twist - contestants will not necessarily be voted out each ep; TNT have been extremely impressed with "The Rock" and described him as articulate, engaged and a people person who wants to impart wisdom and knowledge (not sure about that part); contestants must fit within the TNT target audience for non-scripted which is 18-49, 25-54; 21 would be about as young as they would go; shooting will be in the one location for series but the finale will be in another location and shot live to tape; this is a big budget show on par with Great Escape and described as broadcast network range.
10 housemates compete against each other in missions that will "test their brains, their brawn and even their morality. "The Rock" will be a mentor and motivator and with 10 million fans across Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, social media will be a major driver for the show. Dwayne will host and be on screen in every ep. Each week viewers will vote for the contestant they consider most heroic. |
