Ratings Report:
- CBS dominated over broadcast last night, with its Championship Central pre-show drawing a 2.6, leading up to the main event: North Carolina vs. Gonzaga. That championship battle brought in a 5.6 rating among 18-49s and just under 18 million viewers. While up 21% over last year’s championship game that aired on TBS, it most likely will not beat CBS’ 2015 coverage of the title game (an 18 year high, fyi).
- Going head-to-head with Tournament action, THE VOICE (2.1) on NBC was down .2 from last week, the continuing slip adding further evidence that the singing competition seems to be on a downslide. TAKEN (0.9) also was down two tenths from last week, the second time its slipped under 1.0 since its start at the end of February.
- ABC’s DWTS (1.5) also slipped against CBS’ basketball coverage, down two tenths from last week, with QUANTICO (0.6) continuing the slightly depressed trend for the night, also down .1 from last week.
- On Fox, 24: LEGACY is down again week over week, it’s 0.8 down a tenth from last week’s airing, while APB held steady for a second week in a row.

Of Note:
- Good news/bad news for the season finale of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD. On the upside, the season ender, at 5.4, hit a six-episode high in the ratings. However, that 5.4 is also the lowest rating the hugely popular show has had since Season 2. Season 7 finished 22% down from the Season 6 finale (when it hit 6.9) – the only other time the series ended lower was in 2011, when the Season 2 finale finished at 4.7.
OTHER NEWS:
- Comedy Central announced two new additions to its late night lineup:
- The President Show will air on Thursdays following The Daily Show with Trevor Noah beginning Thursday, April 27. It’s hosted by Anthony Atamanuik doing his dead-on Trump impersonation, and Peter Grosz as his sidekick, Vice President Mike Pence. Catch a sneak peek HERE.
- Starting in the fall, the 11:30pm time slot will be occupied by a new Daily Show spinoff to be hosted by Daily Show alum Jordan Klepper. There’s little other info on the format at this point, including a title, except that the show "will look to embrace and define the chaos of our country by channeling Klepper’s steadfast attitude that institutions are to be trusted less than the lies of the mainstream media. He’ll surround himself with a hand-picked team of contributors contractually obligated to reinforce his singularly correct world view.”
- NBC had ordered six episodes of The Awesome Show, from Mark Burnett and Chris Hardwick, who’ll also host. The series, in partnership with Silicon Valley institution Singularity University, will showcase scientific and technological advances that are shaping the future, and celebrate the pioneers and communities that are at the forefront.
- Multiple advertisers - including Mercedes-Benz and BMW - have pulled their ads from Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor amid a widening sexual harassment scandal surrounding Bill O’Reilly. Adding fuel to the fire is yet another new lawsuit filed against the Fox News Network today, based on the grounds of racial discrimination.
- James Cordon will move The Late Show to London for his June 6-8 broadcasts, where his CBS show will be taped at Central Hall Westminster.
- Members of the WGA West will begin voting on whether to authorize a strike on April 18th.
