RATINGS SUMMARY

  • A mixed win last night with Fox taking the night in demo while CBS took the night in total people
  • Even with the NFL on Fox, Big Brother was the top show for the night in demo even though it was down 17% from last week. Unforgettable was on par with last week.... While on BB, ABC and CBS have finally settled their long running dispute over Glass House. The details of the financial settlement have not been reeleased but CBS are happy campers
  • ABC had a better night with across the board increases: America's Funniest Home Videos was up 5% in total people and 13% in demo; Secret Millionaire was up 9% for its best ratings in more than a year and Whodunnit (season finale) was up 27% for a series high
  • NBC had a AGT repeat and then the season finale of Crossing Lines which tanked - down 20% for a series low
OTHER NEWS
  • Breakfast Anytime, who are developing a show called Top Tech, have just attached comedian Jack Black as a producer and now in talks for him to narrate and present on camera. I mentioned the show here a few months ago - it's a look back at the weird and interesting technology that has impacted our lives - from the Walkman to the iPhone etc. Breakfast Anytime are now in talks with Nat Geo and Discovery for the series with renewed interest coming following Jack Blacks involvement....
  • Fox Sports 1 kicked off officially over the weekend. The channel looks fine but I searched for news articles and reviews today along with scanning twitter and there isn't a lot out there. Having said that, some of the numbers were good and encouraging: UFC pulle 1.8 million viewers which is more than 10 times the combined audience of Speed, Fox Soccer and Fuel on the same night a year ago (that is more of a indictment on those three channels as that is a pathetic statistic). It was 25 times greater than those three channels in 18-49 and 40 times greater in 18-34. It's very early days and tonight is a big one with Regis Philbin hosting a new show for them called The Crowd Goes Wild and even though he is 325 years old, the man still works like a demon and pulls an audience. So while these numbers sound good on paper, the obvious question is how it fares against ESPN as that is its pure competition.
  • Saw a friend from Idol last week who said that now J Lo is done and confirmed as a judge (still to be officially confirmed by Fox) they are working away on judge number three and they are close although they would not give any hints on who it is. David Hill continues to get positive reviews (off the record reviews) for his work on Idol on behalf of Fox.
  • Still on Fox and Demo Lovato, the only returning X Factor judge outside of Simon Cowell, is confirmed for a guest spot on Glee...
