Ratings Report:
- AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: THE CHAMPIONS (NBC) slipped slightly from last week from a 1.8 to a 1.7, but still held on to the top spot of the night and grew in total number of viewers (9.963 million). MANIFEST sunk two-tenths to 0.9 from its 1.1 rating the previous two weeks.
- ABC’s THE BACHELOR rose a tenth to 1.6 in the 18-49 demo from last week. Bri, the wannabe Australian, decided to stick with her (real) American accent and sadly became one of the more forgettable contestants in this episode. The friends turned foes drama between Miss Alabama and Miss North Carolina continues to heat up and I’m predicting a major battle in the mansion next week. The GOOD DOCTOR came back from its fall finale dropping from a 1.4 to a 1.2.
- FOX also had a strong night with its return of THE RESIDENT (1.1), which was its highest rated episode since its September season premiere. FOXS’s new vampire drama, THE PASSAGE, premiered at a 1.3 and 5.22 million viewers. The show is an adaptation of Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy that is essentially a family-friendly version of FX’s WALKING DEAD with vampires instead of zombies.
- CBS showed THE NEIGHBOORHOOD that rose from a 0.5 at its 9:30 PM slot last week to a 1.2 at 8 PM this week. HAPPY TOGETHER (0.9) grew a tenth while MAGNUM P.I. (0.7) returned down a tenth in the demo but picked up more viewers (5.93 million). The BULL rounded out the night for CBS with another 0.8.
- The CW aired a repeat of the 4th annual HOWIE MANDEL STAND-UP EXTRAVAGANZA that scrapped up a 0.2.

- DISCOVERY’S GOLD RUSH (0.7) climbed up to first place after it fell behind LIFETIME’s SURVIVING R KELLY last week at 0.6.
- A&E’s LIVE PD and ESPN’S LAKERS VS UTAH GAME both scored a 0.6, keeping their same ratings as last week.
- DISCOVERY’S WHITE WATER (0.5) rose to the fourth place of the night but also kept its stagnant score of a 0.5.
- RIDICULOUSNESS on MTV struggled at the bottom again, dropping to a 0.3 from last week’s 0.3.
OTHER NEWS:
- PROJECTS GREENLIT/ORDERED:
-
- RENEWED: FOX’S SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE will return again this summer for its sixteenth season. The show’s average dropped a tenth each season from its thirteenth season.
- RETURNING: EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION is making a comeback. It was picked up by Discovery’s HGTV from ABC and is set to show 10 new episodes in early 2020. HGTV also got the rights to air 100 existing episodes of original series. It will feature some of HGTV’s personalities in a weekly competition to renovate an entire home for a deserving family. It will be produced by Endemol Shine North America with DJ Nurre and Sharon Levy as executive producers.
- BUSINESS BRIEFS:
- NETFLIX is raising its subscription prices $1-$2 in the US-its biggest price ever to subscribers. The $8 plan is going up to $9, the standard $11 plan will go up to $13 and the $14 plan will go to $16. The change will take effect within the next couple of months of existing members, but new members will be hit with the new prices immediately. Netflix spent nearly $8 billion on new content last year so these new priced hikes don’t come as a surprise to me.
- HULU surprised dropped a Fyre Festival doc on Monday, just days before NETFLIX was supposed to release their own. If you (somehow) forgot, the 2017 Fyre Fest was a huge scam that charged attendees $25,000 for a luxurious music festival experience on a private island in the Bahamas. Those that arrived were instead met with an unfinished venue with no food that resembled more of a deserted campground than anything else.
- The CW finished their multi-year deal with iHEARTMEDIA that will keep the CW as the exclusive TV broadcaster and streaming partner of the iHeartRadio Music Festival and the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball event through 2021. The deal also allows for the CW to live stream four of iHeartRadio’s theatre events and air a Best Of special that highlights one of iHeartRadio’s 2019 events.
