RATINGS SUMMARY

  • Thankfully a bit more original programming last night and the return of Masterchef helped Fox to the win in demo while AGT helped NBC to the win in total people
  • Masterchef wasn't on last week due to the July 4th holiday and it came back with a 9% decline last night even though it had the very beautiful Eva Longoria as a guest judge
  • Masterchef and AGT were head to head at 9pm and AGT was the clear winner. It had a reasonable margin in demo and destroyed Masterchef in total people. AGT was not only up 4% from last week, it was NBC's best result in the slot since November 2012 (a SNL special)
  • The premiere of Australian made Camp ran off the back of AGT and while it won its slot, it basically halved the AGT audience. I haven't watched it yet so will reserve judgement but it is getting some pretty frosty reviews
  • CBS were fourth for the night in demo and third in total people Big Brother and The American Baking Competition. BB was up 18% from last weeks series low while The American Baking Competition finale was consistent with the last four weeks. Still no word from CBS on a renewal. Although its numbers have been somewhat soft, the fact it has held its consistency may work in its favor
  • ABC were fifth in demo and total people - great result....not. Family Tools has now been put out of its misery and with a 0.6 in demo, not a minute too soon.
OTHER NEWS

  • NBC have given Endemol a straight to series order for family game show Wall of Fame. The order is for 8 x 1 hours and the show sees one family winning money if they can not only answer pop culture trivia questions correctly but can also guess whether members of the celebrity "wall of fame" delivered the correct answers to those same questions
  • Still on NBC - Ryan Seacrest and NBC are in final negotiations for him to be the host of Million Second Quiz, the ambitious All3 project. I was with the head of production from All3 last night and safe to say they are nervous...
  • Fox don't (publicly) appear any closer to a replacement for Mike Darnell although the same names continue to be thrown about - Arthur Smith, David Lyle, Sharon Levy....
