RATINGS SUMMARY

  • CBS had the biggest show of the night but it was ABC that came out on top - Fox had all repeats...
  • Off the back of two hours of The Bachelorette, a horrible piece of television, ABC won the night. It was the second part of the two part season finale and it was well up from last week - 21% up in demo and 20% up in total people
  • Mistresses continued its small but consistent increases with another 8% last night although it got creamed by Under The Dome
  • CBS have already renewed Under The Dome for a second season and its no wonder why - it is the talk of the industry as the networks all scramble to develop scripted content for next summer given the dominance of Under The Dome. It was down a very slight 4% last night and tied its season low ratings but when it was the most watched show in demo and total people, I'm not sure CBS will be too worried.....and that was with a night of repeats as its lead in....
  • And then we come back to my old favorite NBC. Their push to become the least watched network in the US is coming along well with all programming strategies doing their jobs. Get Out Alive With Bear Grylls (which I personally don't mind but should be on cable) was down 14% to hot a season low. Head of alternative at NBC, Paul Telegdy, has supported Ben Silvermans shows very well but its going to come at a very high cost if he doesn't watch out. After Bear, was the excruciatingly bad Siberia - it was down 13% and also hit a season low
  • The CW was comfortably sixth last night in demo with Breaking Pointe its only first run and it was on par with last weeks season two debut
OTHER NEWS
  • The document I mentioned yesterday with notes from producer meetings will be ready tonight and I will send through as soon as possible....
  • Although I am bagging NBC in todays report, they have performed quite while in the upfront sales which they have completed and secured increases on a CPM of 7 to 8% which is just behind CBS. Their sales team deserve a reward for that.....
  • I just spoke to a friend at Berman Braun and off the back of Red Bull Stratos (dive from space) and the enormous ratings for the tight rope walk across the Grand Canyon, they are very excited to be working with free diver Francisco Ferreras (also known by his nickname of Pipin). He is Cuban American and on October 12, attempting to become the first person to dive to 200 metres on a single breathe. His previous record was shot and captured by James Cameron. His girlfriend was the previous record holder but died during a diving accident and this attempt will be in her honour. The documentary and live broadcast is called The Challenge of Science which is a horrible name and will be changed. Berman Braun are talking to Discovery. There is a reel on this although it is very bad!! But you get the idea....
