RATINGS REPORT

  • The Season Finale of The Walking Dead began a truly massive night at AMC - with 15.7 million viewers and 10.2 million adults 18-49. The live Talking Dead after show pulled a huge 7.3 million viewers and 4.7 million adults 18-49 and in the wee midnight hours Comic Book Men had 1.1 million viewers, 715,000 adults 18-49.
  • Over on the broadcast networks CBS was on top with total viewers and demo on Sunday behind the strong NCAA basketball lead-in (which ran over on the East Coast) of a 3.9. But those numbers will be adjusted. As usual 60 minutes performed strong (with a big story on the new Michael Lewis book) with a 2.5.
  • On ABC America’s Funnies Home Videos was down 14% to a 1.2 from last week. Resurrection was down two-tenths from last week to a 2.3, and Revenge was down a tenth to a 1.4.
  • Fox’s slate of animated shows proved a mediocre lead-in for the latex in the Cosmos series. Bob’s Burgers was down two-tents to a 1.2, American Dad and the Simpsons were both even with last week with a 1.4 an1.9 respectively, and Family Guy was down a tenth of a point to a 2.2 - all leading to Cosmos sliding down 12% to a 1.5 from last week’s 1.7.
  • It takes a lot of blind faith to still believe in Believe. With a miserable lead-in of American Dream Builders (0.8 - down a tenth), Believe slipped to a 1.1. And Crisis was even worse - down 23% from last week to a 1.0. Both of these shows are done for.

OTHER NEWS

  • Pharrell Williams will replace Cee Lo Green as a judge on The Voice for Season 7.
  • Nicole Ritchie’s Candidly Nicole has been given a straight-to-series order by VH1 for eight episodes premiering July 17.
  • On Friday Rake was down to a new low 0.4 on Fox. Dead show walking…
  • SNL is not looking good these days - with Louis CK as host on Saturday it pulled just a 2.1 in demo. That’s down from a 3.0 the last time he hosted. Also, it’s just horribly unfunny right now - the sketches are beyond cringe-worthy and even Weekend Update is unbearable.
  • Chelsea Handler appears to be trying to make an exit from E! Losing one of its signature pieces of programming could spell big trouble for the network, and could mean more shakeup in the late night rating war. Stay tuned.
  • If you didn’t see Piers Morgan’s sign off and tirade about American gun laws, it’s a good overview of one of the things that’s just incomprehensible about this otherwise awesome country. See it HERE.
