- ABC’S THE BACHELORETTE held steady at .6 and QUEENS stayed at .3. Michelle Young’s season of the Bachelorette has been full of drama amongst the men in the house, with Michelle herself remaining cool and collected amidst the extreme immaturity we see in every season. - NBC’S LA BREA fell from .6 to .4 and NEW AMSTERDAM ticked down from .4 to .3. New Amsterdam this week was featured on the nationally syndicated health and wellness show “Bloom” hosted by Gayle Guyardo, as Guyardo spoke with the star of the series in an interview.
- CW’S DC’s STARGIRL and SUPERGIRL both held at .1 again this week.

INDUSTRY NEWS:
- Actor Dwayne Johnson has pledged to stop using real guns on set following the fatal accident involving Halyna Hutchins and Alec Baldwin. The Rock’s promise arrives right before the November 12 release of his action movie with Netflix “Red Notice,” which will heavily feature firearms for the sake of the action-packed storylines. Johnson said from here forward he will only use rubber guns on set and will enforce the rule with any studio he works with, regardless of what the argument is against editing the guns in post-production for budget’s sake. With such insane VFX resources today, I’m sure Hollywood’s version of a rubber gun look extremely realistic. Johnson is not just one of the most famous people in the world, but also one of the most respected and beloved figures in the business, who carries a lot of weight and brings mega-bucks to the box office. In other words, Johnson’s endorsement to end the use of real firearms can kick-off a domino effect of safe decision-making across Hollywood productions.
- Another sports-focused cable channel is set to shut down as entertainment companies and pay-TV providers seek more streamlined channel lineups. The latest shutdown is ESPN Classic, which launched as an independent channel called Classic Sports Network in 1995, and which the company acquired in 1997. ESPN Classic re-aired classic sporting events and aired documentaries and other fare dedicated to sports history. It also served as a spillover channel if ESPN needed a channel to run live sporting events that it didn’t have room for on its other channels.
- FOX signed a first look deal with “Masked Singer” creator Wonwoo Park. Under the deal, Fox and Park’s Seoul-based production company, dI turn, will jointly develop series for global territories and the American market. The two companies are currently developing the international format for the Korean talent-competition series “Lotto Singer,” in which viewers can win cash prizes by correctly betting on contestants’ performances.
- Discovery Inc. has hired Kevin Mayer, who helped launch Disney+, as a consultant to help steer its streaming strategy in the lead-up to the company’s merger with WarnerMedia. Mayer had a brief run as CEO of TikTok and COO of ByteDance before joining sports streaming service DAZN as Chairman. Mayer is also Co-CEO and Chairman of the Board of Forest Road Acquisition Corp – which means his new job will be part-time.
- Discovery reported total 3Q21 revenues of $3.15 billion, up 23% compared to the prior year quarter. Net income was down 48% from 3Q20, to $156 million, due to expenses for its broadcast of the Summer Olympics and costs associated with its direct-to-consumer businesses.
